Graduation Year: 2024 questionsCan you share a brief narrative of your post-graduation journey, including any challenges, achievements, or key turning points?
"Since graduating, I’ve moved to the Bay Area and started my first full time job. One of the toughest parts to navigate so far has been transitioning from being a full-time student with a structured lifestyle to being a full-time employee with no structure beyond the 9-5. I’m sure many people can empathize with the feeling of having much to do but not enough time to do it all. After all, the transition to university had a similar sort of feeling. But through conscious effort to keep in touch with my family, friends, hobbies, and culture, I’ve been able to maintain space in my busy life to connect with the things that are most important to me. " How has being a part of NSU helped shape your personal or professional life?
"Moving to the Bay Area separated me from a lot of people that I was close to, which meant that I had to start over in my new home. But even though it’s hard being so far away from people I knew, I’ve embraced the opportunity to meet new people and build a new space for myself. Besides having fun and making friends, being in NSU was also about connecting with people of different cultures and being able to bond over shared experiences while embracing our different backgrounds. So instead of dreading the time I’d spend being the new guy anywhere I went, the skills I developed during my time on exec and staff allowed me to immerse myself in the process of finding new communities. I thought I would hate the process of settling in, but my experience being the opposite has only shown me how my time in NSU has allowed me to grow." |
